Six centuries on one hill
Pick a moment. The 3D flies to the drone's real viewpoint, and the picture shows what that view might have looked like. Drag across it to compare with today.
Come for the tower. Stay for the coast.
Doonagore stands on the Wild Atlantic Way, a short drive from some of the west of Ireland's best-loved places.
The Cliffs of Moher
The cliffs are busiest at midday. Go at sunrise or sunset for the light, and the quiet.
Doolin Pier
Ferries to the Aran Islands (Inis Oírr, Inis Meáin and Inis Mór), and cruises that sail beneath the Cliffs of Moher.
The Burren
Otherworldly limestone country, rare wildflowers, and ancient stone forts such as Caherconnell.
Doolin Cave
Guided tours with limited numbers for conservation. Book ahead and allow about two hours.
Traditional sessions
McGann's, McDermott's, Fitz's and Gus O'Connor's are known for live trad music, nightly in summer.
Fisher Street
Doolin's lane of brightly painted houses and shops, down towards the sea.
Doonagore Castle is a private home and isn't open to visitors: enjoy it from the road and the coast. Check opening times and sailings before you travel.
One drone orbit, a whole place to explore
We took the sharpest frames from a single orbit of stock drone footage, worked out where the camera was for each one, and trained a 3D Gaussian splat: millions of tiny coloured shapes that together look like the real place from any angle.
Heritage sites, visitor attractions and tourism boards can use the same approach for a landmark of their own: a 3D view, a story through time, and things to see nearby, in a page that works on a phone.
